In the past decade it has been my special pleasure to meet many Illinois K-12 educators from all sorts of backgrounds -- ranging from rural communities to suburban and inner-city neighborhoods, and from preschool to high-school settings. This has given me a much deeper understanding of your goals and special challenges. I'm now convinced that no one is more important to heightened scientific literacy and the enhanced public appreciation of natural world than you are.
